Farnley Falcons are a community Rugby League club based on Butt Lane, Farnley. We currently run 10 teams, offering Rugby League to Boys and Girls aged 3-15 as well as Open Aged Men's team for 16+ and men's and women's Masters teams for those 35+
We are currently working through the biggest year in the clubs history as we run more teams than ever, whilst rebuilding and improving our facilities, creating a safe and comfortable space for our players to train and play from.
We are Crowdfunding to install LED floodlights around 2 pitches on Butt Lane. After 3 years of COVID affecting us all, combined with ongoing building work at The Nest, the club is need of your support to deliver what would be a significant improvement to the facilities we have. The Rugby League World Cup Legacy gives us a great opportunity to secure facilities which will support the club, and its players for years to come. By acting now we will be able to deliver a £42 000 project for a fraction of the cost.
This project will help the club become far more financially sustainable going forward. As noted in the video above, the club currently spends thousands of pounds each year hiring training venues for our teams to use.
Availability of floodlit spaces within Leeds, and the inherent cost attached hiring these facilities affects the accessibility of the club currently. Some players struggle to travel to these venues whilst others struggle to pay the additional subs required to meet the hire costs.
By installing LED floodlights on Butt Lane we will have access to year round training at a fraction of the cost we currently pay. Beyond this, having floodlit spaces within LS12 will massively improve the facilities within the local area, creating a year round space not only for Rugby League, but other activities too.
In January 2023 we are Bringing People Together and challenging all our members, their friends and family, as well as local businesses and the local community in general to support our club, whilst also Improving Health and well being. We are asking people to swap 50km for £50, by walking running, cycling swimming 50km in January as part of a sponsored effort to fund raise for our club. Farnley Falcons want to Be a Catalyst for Change, encouraging everyone to be active
We are installing LED floodlights on Butt Lane!!!!!!!!!!!
We have engaged a company to design and supply a lighting system that will create 2 LED floodlit pitches at the club. The 10 pylons will create an all year round training area on our middle pitch as well as offer the club the opportunity to host games on evenings and during the darker months of the year on our bottom pitch.
Being able to offer Rugby League training and playing opportunities 365 days a year will certainly enhance our players experience, and given the struggle to access and subsequent cost of hiring off-site facilities, this is a great opportunity to really create a lasting legacy which will help the club be financially sustainable going forward.
Based in the heart of LS12 we provide safe and affordable Rugby League, lead by qualified coaches and supported by our priceless volunteers to make sure that each player has the best experience possible whilst at the club. Farnley Falcons is a place for friendship and team building, where self esteem and confidence flourishes, not just within our players but our friends and family too.
There are over 200 members who participate within our club who train and play, and watch and support us each week.
The club is currently working towards delivering a brand new clubhouse facility which help the club become more sustainable going forward.
By establishing The Nest as a year round venue for Rugby League, we also ensure that the clubhouse will be a year round venue for friends and family to socialise in, getting out of the house and being involved in the activities at the club.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games mission statement aimed to
These 3 goals also define our club and our project, by working as a club, and engaging the local community we aim to fundraise £10 000 to contribute to the improvement and development of Butt Lane, creating an asset many people will benefit from throughout the year.
Whether you are an aspiring rugby player or someone looking to keep fit and enhance your social circle, Farnley Falcons, by being accessible 365 days a year, will really bring the aims of Birmingham 2022 to LS12
In the summer of 2022 we delivered our first ever crowdfunding effort with great success, raising £11 242 from 95 suppporters. This money saw the club through its most challenging season and has put us in a great position for the new year. In 2023 we want to go bigger and better, engaging a wider audience in a bigger, louder, and prouder campaign that will not only raise funds for the club and improve the facilities available in LS12, but have a profound impact on all those who take part and support us. #50kfor£50
